A total of 61 scholars supported by Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and Aboitiz Renewables, Inc., the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), have completed their college education and are now working or preparing for careers in medicine, engineering, finance, and other professions.
The scholarship program provides full tertiary education assistance, including tuition, stipends, and licensure examination review support, to students from the company’s host communities across the country.
This year’s graduates include 31 scholars from the Tiwi host community, which recorded several magna cum laude and cum laude graduates. Fourteen scholars came from North Luzon, four from the MakBan area who are currently preparing for board examinations, nine from Northern Mindanao, and three from Southern Mindanao.
Among the program’s graduates is Dr. Michelle Mariacos of Bakun, Benguet, who earned a pharmacy degree at Saint Louis University through the scholarship before pursuing medicine. She now serves as Medical Officer III at Benguet General Hospital and participates in healthcare missions in remote mountain communities.
In Cagayan de Oro, Monica A. Litohon completed her accountancy degree at Capitol University after receiving scholarship assistance during a period of financial difficulty. She has since passed the Certified Public Accountant licensure examination and now conducts financial literacy sessions for low-income families in her community.
Meanwhile, David Vincent Reonal of Bay, Laguna, completed his electrical engineering degree through the scholarship program before joining AboitizPower’s Cadet Engineering Program. He currently works in the Control and Instrumentation Department of the MakBan geothermal power plant.
Alexander Coo, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Renewables, said the company remains committed to supporting students from its host communities by providing educational opportunities that help prepare them for professional careers and community development.
The scholarship program continues to assist students from communities hosting the company’s geothermal, hydro, and solar energy facilities nationwide.
