The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON is strengthening its environmental programs and calling for greater public participation in protecting the region’s natural resources.

The agency highlighted its ongoing initiatives during the Kapihan sa PIA CALABARZON held Monday, September 7, with DENR Regional Executive Director Henry Adornado, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) CALABARZON Regional Director Engr. Edgardo Castillo, and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) CALABARZON Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Division Chief Forester Corazon Gasapos.
Among the programs discussed were the Malinis na Barangay Program, DENR Express Permitting on Wheels, Handog Titulo Program, solid waste management, Extended Producer Responsibility, and the rehabilitation of mining sites.
Adornado stressed the importance of making environmental programs accessible and understandable to the public, saying informed communities are crucial to achieving a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment.
He also urged residents to take greater responsibility in managing their waste and supporting the principles of a circular economy, where materials are reused and recovered instead of simply being discarded.
The DENR said stronger cooperation between government agencies and communities remains essential in addressing environmental concerns and ensuring that CALABARZON’s natural resources are protected for future generations.
The initiatives form part of the administration’s broader push for a sustainable future for Filipinos.
